Gordon Vincent Irvine, 97, of Swope, formerly of RockbridgeCounty, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, in Augusta Health.

Born April 2, 1928 in Alleghany County, he was the son of Herman Fontaine and Christine Pearl (Irvine) Irvine. 

Prior to retirement, he was employed by Lee’s Carpets in Glasgow for many years. 

He was a long-time member of ChristianFellowship BaptistChurch.  Previously he was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church, and more recently had attended Buffalo Gap Presbyterian Chapel. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Annette (LaRue) Irvine; a daughter, Deborah Hall; a sister, Lingle Hartbarger; and a grandson, Ricky Lowe.

Surviving are three children, Pamela Evans of Buena Vista, Jerry Irvine of Lexington, and Steven Irvine of Clifton Forge; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 22 in Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville, officiated by Pastor Don McClure.
