Born on July 1, 1944, in Lexington, he was the beloved son of William T. Carter Sr. and Janie Ruth Howe Carter.

Ed was a devoted HVAC technician for 36 years with Donald’s Electric and Refrigeration Service and a talented carpenter who generously helped many in his community. He was known for his love of fishing and his joy in sharing music as a local DJ around town.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Sean Parnell Carter; his brother, William T. “Clit” Carter Jr.; and his sisters, Ruth Mazique, Barbara Carter Drew and Leona Carter Fontaine.

Ed is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Whitney Carter, and his cherished grandsons, William Chittum, Zachary Gibson and Nicholas Carter, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family who will forever hold his memory dear.

In honoring his life, we celebrate a man whose warmth and generosity touched many. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A funeral was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Harrison Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
