SID BROWN
Born on April 21, 1943, in Lexington, he was the beloved son of Elizabeth Echols Williams and Harry McBride Brown Jr.
Mr. Brown was the owner of Shenandoah Electric Co. Inc. for over 30 years and devoted his life to providing electrical contracting services to countless homes and businesses in the Rockbridge County area. He was an active community leader who served as a member of the Lexington City Planning Commission and Lexington City Council. Outside of work, he found joy in renovating old homes and was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. Sid fulfilled his lifelong dream of designing and building his home on Brushy Hill, which he and his family cherished dearly.
Sid leaves behind a lifetime of memories to his wife, Nancy Jo Stout, and his former wife, Judith Yearwood; his son, Dean M. Brown and wife, Gina; his daughter, Heather E. Brown; two grandchildren, Madison and Zacary; and his sister, Nancy Catlett; along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Burwell Hamric.
Sid lived a remarkable life on his own terms, and he will forever be remembered for his strength and perseverance, sense of humor, and kindhearted spirit that touched so many lives. Sid will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private gathering to honor Sid’s life will be held at a later date.
