BILL TRUSLOW

BILL TRUSLOW

William Lockridge Truslow, 79, of Crimora, and a Buena Vista native, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025.

Born on Feb. 3, 1946, in Buena Vista, he was the son of Virginia “Jenny” Byers-Truslow and William Clinton Truslow.

Bill, or Billy, as he was often referred to, worked in manufacturing most of his life. He worked for the Blue Bird East bus company in Buena Vista until it closed in 1992, McQuay International in Verona, and then he retired from Target Corporation warehouse, in Stuarts Draft, in 2007.

He enjoyed fishing and camping, and he never met a stranger. Most folks will remember him for his long and very detailed conversations, a family trait passed through him that continues today with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Byers, and his brother-in-law, Stanley Smith.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Teresa Truslow; brother, Dana Truslow of Eau Claire, Wis.; daughters Lucretia VanBrocklin (Jerry) of Lexington and Lorie Hill (Ernie) of Bristol, Va.; five grandchildren, Kristina VanBrocklin (Shane), Jason VanBrocklin (Tristen) of Buena Vista, and Madison, Chaney and Brayden Hill of Bristol, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Bentley, William and Jacoby; brother-in-law Robert Smith of Waynesboro, and sister-in-law Stephanie Benson of Staunton; several special nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family; friend and former wife, Virginia Painter; and two very dear friends, Robert and Darlene Sloan of Buena Vista.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Shenandoah Valley Health & Rehab in Buena Vista and ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice for taking such great care of Bill. His spunky personality was challenging and fun as we listen to many stories from them all.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Middle River Church of the Brethren, 2077 Knightly Mill Road, Fort Defiance.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista.
