REV. DR. HOWARD BOSWELL JR.

The Rev. Dr. Howard W. Boswell Jr., 68, pastor of the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2025.

He was born Oct. 14, 1957, in Washington, D.C., to Howard and Geraldine Boswell. 

Raised in Arlington, he was a graduate of YorktownHigh School. He earned a BA in history from Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, N.C., a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and the Doctor of Ministry degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ray Boswell.

Howard was a devoted husband, father, pastor and friend.   He served congregations in Salina, Kansas; Niles, Illinois; Kenmore, New York; and Buena Vista.

Surviving is his spouse, Bronwen Boswell; children, Katherine Boswell, Ian Boswell (Katherine), James Boswell and Rhett Boswell; brother, George Boswell (Georganne); nieces, nephews and wider family members. 

A memorial service will be held at Buena Vista Presbyterian Church Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. with family receiving friends at 10 a.m. at the church. A second service will be held at Kenmore Presbyterian Church, Buffalo, New York, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Buena Vista Presbyterian Church, Kenmore Presbyterian Church or Warren Wilson College.
