JAY COOPER

JAY COOPER

The family of Jaylen “Jay” Antoine Lewis Cooper, age 23, of Lexington, sadly announces his passing on Nov. 7, 2025.

Born and raised in Lexington, Jay was a proud graduate of Rockbridge County High School. He was known for his bright smile, caring spirit, and protective nature — always looking out for others, no matter who it was. Jay was truly a light; his smile was contagious and could take over his entire face, lighting up any room he walked into.

He loved being outdoors. Basketball and music were two of his greatest passions — whether shooting hoops with friends or freestyling, Jay found joy in doing what he loved. He grew up watching and listening to his brother’s rap and developed a love for music of his own, inspired by his favorite artist, NBA YoungBoy.

Jay leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Nuwassa Starlene Tinsley, and father, Michael Wayne Cooper; his siblings Kashianna Calloway, Ashanti Cooper, Tyrel Cooper, Quinten Cooper, Khalil Davis, and Khylin Cooper; maternal greatgrandmother Nuwassa Smith; maternal grandparents Gomez Lee and Florine Tinsley; and paternal grandparents Frankie Jackson and the late Carolyn Jackson.

He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who loved him deeply and will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Pastor Conner. Burial will immediately follow at the Long Family Cemetery. Visitation will be private.

Jay’s protective spirit, laughter, and love will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
