James Oscar Hall, 90, of Lexington went to be with his Lord AND Savior Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at his home.

Born Nov, 21, 1934, he was a son of Joshua Wilson Hall and Louise Coleman Deacon Hall.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Irvine Hall, and brothers Ronald Hall, Burtney Hall and Nelson Hall.

Oscar loved being outdoors whether hunting, fishing, gardening or cutting wood much of which he shared with others. He was a charter member of the Collierstown Baptist Church, serving for 65 years in various capacities. He and his wife, Elsie, took to heart God’s command to “give a cup of water in Jesus’ name” and their ministry spread far and wide through Rockbridge County and beyond.

Surviving are his children, Marsha Hall Presson (Russ), Lana Hall Nicely (Wayne) and Eric R. Hall (Patricia); grandchildren, Justin Presson, Victoria Presson Gordon, Clennon Presson, Jonathan Presson, Idella Chittum, Zayne Chittum; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Belle Clark; sisters-in-law, Lillian Smith and Ethel Hall; many nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Sandra Fix.

A funeral was conducted Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Dr. Greg Gertz. Burial followed at Collierstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Collierstown Baptist Church c/o Sandra Fix, 92 Whispering Woods Lane, Lexington, VA 24450 or Connections Plus Healthcare + Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450.
