RICK SLATER
Richard “Rick” Slater, 69, of Raphine passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, following a multiple year struggle with cancer.
Born Oct. 9, 1956, he was a son of the late William Howard Slater and Joyce Fay Slater. Raised in Middlefield, Mass., and a longtime New Hampshire resident, he lived his final years in the peaceful Shenandoah Valley town of Raphine with the love of his life, Debra (Gander) Slater.
A decorated, disabled U.S. Navy veteran with a master’s degree in business, he was a commercial banker and financial industry executive for more than three decades before retiring in early 2023. He was an avid gardener, golfer, and friend to many.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a sister, Carol Rose, of Bangor, Maine; cousins Issabelle Zink of Maryland, and Brenda Gorman of Walpole, N.H.; stepdaughter and spouse Shannon and Peter Ferguson; step-granddaughter and spouse Seaera and Seth Wallace; step-grandson Dalton Effler of North Carolina; his adopted family of Judy, Kathy, and Donna Whitman of Hancock, Mass.; along with scores of professional colleagues and close friends.
