CHARLES CONNER
CHARLES CONNER

Born Feb. 3, 1945, in Rockbridge County, he was preceded in death by his parents, William Henderson Conner and Charlotte Toman Conner, and his brother Joseph “Joe” Conner.
Charlie is survived by his two sons, Chad W. Conner and Colby W Conner (Cindy Hancock Conner); a grandson and two great-grandchildren. Charlie’s greatest pride was his family.
For decades, Charlie built and operated a successful tire business in Rockbridge County, earning the respect and loyalty of his community through honest work and genuine care for his customers. His humility and strong work ethic made him not just a trusted businessman, but a pillar of the community. He was a man who truly never met a stranger — his warm spirit and infectious humor could light up any room and turn acquaintances into lifelong friends within minutes.
An outdoorsman through and through, Charlie was passionate about hunting, and he earned recognition as an accomplished coon hunter, a skill that brought him both pride and camaraderie. Throughout his life, he pursued hunting turkey, deer, groundhogs, squirrel and boar with the same enthusiasm and dedication he brought to everything he did.
Charlie was an avid sports fan who cheered passionately for his beloved Washington Redskins and followed football and baseball with unwavering devotion. Game days were never quiet when Charlie was around — his commentary and enthusiasm were as entertaining as the games themselves.
Charlie lived life fully and humbly with love as his legacy. His zest for life never dimmed. Charlie is leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter and countless cherished memories throughout Rockbridge County and beyond. He will be deeply missed by his sons, his extended family, his many friends and all who knew him.
