WANDA PENNINGTON
WANDA PENNINGTON
Born April 25, 1940, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of Albert Steele Hartless and Mary Virginia Armentrout Hartless.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 ½ years, Lawrence Wesley Pennington; a half-sister, Joan Kilborn of West Grove, Pa.; a half-brother, Jon Bowman of Apex, N.C.; and a daughterin- law, Barbara Pennington of Stuarts Draft.
Wanda and Lawrence raised their family in Stuarts Draft, where Wanda was a full-time homemaker, a member of Tinkling Springs Presbyterian Church, a founding and lifetime member of Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad Auxiliary and began working at Hershey Chocolate. They later relocated to the Pennington farm in Fairfield, where she was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church and retired from Hershey Chocolate with over 10 years of service. She loved family, Christmas, children, chocolate and taking trips.
She is survived by her children, Sally Lohr (Dennis) of Palmyra, Pa., Larry Pennington of Stuarts Draft and Vicky Pennington-Carr (Sam) of Cross Junction; sisters Mary Deavers of Raphine, Emma Golde Moore (Carl) of Buena Vista, Brenda Smith of Fairfield and Linda Baumann of Rockbridge Baths; a brother, Palmer Hartless of Fairfield; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family expresses deep appreciation to Blue Ridge Christian Home for the love and care they gave to Wanda over past two years.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Dennis Lohr. A viewing will begin one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Timber Ridge A.R. Presbyterian Cemetery, followed by a meal at Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
