She was born March 6, 1951, in Lexington, a daughter of Andrew West and Mary Batten.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, James Nugent; and a sister, Linda Gay West.

She is survived by her siblings, Kimberley West and her husband Dennis Magers, also of Greenville, Kenneth West of Charlottesville, and Michael West and Wayne West, both of Fishersville. She is also survived by her friend, Ruth Marshlick, and William Curry IV of Churchville and Marshall Curry of Marietta, Ga.
