Carl Junior Smith, 87, of Lexington died Oct. 17, 2025. 

Born Jan. 25, 1938, he was a son of the late James Lawrence Smith and Margaret Mays Smith.

Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Harry Lee, Grover, and James "Deanie" Smith; and two sisters, Patsy and Mildred "PeeWee" Smith.

Carl was a member of BethanyLutheran Church and a retired greenskeeper at the Lexington Golf and Country Club. He also was an avid golfer and bowler. 

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Troxell Smith; daughter Traci Smith Montgomery of Buena Vista; grandchildren, William Montgomery II and Cortni Montgomery, both of Buena Vista; sister, Alene Sligh of Pennsylvania; and special friends Oscar and Clarence Plogger and Ashby Horne.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ralph Coleman and Pastor James Youngblood officiating. Burial will follow at OakGrove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home.
