BETTY NICELY

Betty Garrett Nicely, 84, widow of Ovie E. Nicely, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at Harmony Memory Care in Roanoke following a battle with Alzheimer’s. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 65 years and is looking into the face of her Savior.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Richard C. Garrett Sr., and Estelle Frances Huffman Garrett; as well as multiple siblings.

She worked for the Cato Corporation as a store manager for 25 years and later worked as a cafeteria supervisor at Kling Elementary School.

Betty will be missed and remembered by her daughters, Teresa N. Whitehead (Michael) and Carolyn Carrigan (Jim); brothers, Richard C. Garrett Jr. and Charles Secrist (Joyce); and sister, Clara Huffman.

The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Victory Baptist Church in Buena Vista by Pastor Dean Staton. Interment will be private.Expressions of sympathy may be sent www. simpsonfuneral.com.
