Catherine Viar Tomlin, 96, of Buena Vista, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025.

Born April 29, 1929, in Buena Vista, she was the daughter of the late Clarence H. Viar and Flossie Sheltman Viar.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Wayne “Peanut” Tomlin, and sisters, Alice Viar Lynn, Jeanette Viar Coleman, and Betty Viar Simmons. 

Catherine served many years as a House Mother at the Presbyterian Children’s Home.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary T. Buchanan and husband, Ervin; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Green Hill Cemetery by Pastor Ralph Coleman. 

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
