BILL FLOYD
William “Bill” Eugene Floyd, 80, of Buena Vista, a loving husband, father, brother, granddaddy and great “yay-yay,” passed away Friday, Sept. 26, surrounded by his loved ones at home.
Bill was born Jan. 2, 1945, in Cornwall and grew up with his five siblings.
Bill met his beloved wife, Elaine Floyd, in 1971 and fell in love instantly. May 20, 1972, is the day Bill and Elaine got married. They both knew they shared a love for family and decided to start their own. They had two kids together, Leslie and Kristy. Bill was a devoted father who loved well and was well loved. He enjoyed spoiling his children, grandchildren, and his most recent great-grandchildren. He provided many years of wisdom and guidance to each family member he was around.
Bill will be remembered for many of his accomplishments. He was known for always being a hard worker. From high school he went straight into the Air Force, where he served for two years, and worked 30-plus years at Modine as a maintenance supervisor, which he later retired from. He was a member of Calvary Brethren Church for more than 15 years. Two of his greatest accomplishments of all time are being a granddaddy and a great-grandfather (yay-yay) to “His Sunshine” Ember Grace and Braxten.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Elaine Floyd; three children, Debbie Walker, Leslie Floyd (Vickie), and Kristy Floyd (EJ); 13 grandchildren, Chris Floyd, Jaden Clark; Kyle and Brooke Floyd, Chelsea Campbell; Amy, Nickie, Stacey and Charles “Peanut” Floyd; Pam Byrnes, Kelsey Fitzgerald, Ashley Fitzgerald and Jimmy Walker; special friends, Danny and April Ramsey; three sisters, Joyce Sorrells, Linda Floyd, and Mary Horne; and numerous great grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his mother and father, Lonnie and Joseph “Jo” Floyd; his brother, Larry Floyd, his sister, Shirley Reid, and his son, Charles “Chuckie” Floyd.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by Pastor Joel Ward. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
