Earl was raised in Glasgow and at an early age accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Ebenezer Baptist Church, now Union Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Moore, and brother, James Moore.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Eloise Moore, and son, Avery Moore; brother Issac Moore (Vivian); sister Courtney Moore; nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
Earl married his high school sweetheart, Eloise. They shared 47 years of marriage and from that union had their beloved son Avery.
Earl was a graduate of Natural Bridge High School. During his high school years, Earl was known throughout the commonwealth for his exceptional basketball skills. He held numerous records that were not broken until many, many years after he graduated. Earl graduated from St Paul’s College where he earned a bachelor of science degree in education.
After graduation from college, he began his rewarding career as a teacher in the Fluvanna County Public School system. He was a devoted teacher to many students who remember him fondly. He retired from teaching after 40 years of service and enjoyed his retirement by spending time with family and friends.
Earl leaves behind many fond memories for his family and friends to treasure. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Union Baptist Church in Glasgow by the Rev. Eric Anderson. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Glasgow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
