Thomas Allen Lackey passed away on Sept. 8, 2025. Born in Michigan to Lloyd and Ruth Lackey, Tom moved to Rockbridge County when he was 5 years old.

Tom served his country in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he put his skills to work as a long haul truck driver. Later in life he transitioned to transportation and installation of industrial machinery. 

Tom was a member of the FairfieldUnited MethodistChurch and was a man of many talents. He especially loved working on cars and watching NASCAR. 

He is survived by his sister, Susan Lackey, and sister-in-law Shirley Lackey; nieces Paula Lackey, Megan Harrison (Robert), Lisa Bonnes (Wesley), and Kim Seace; nephews Scot Trevz (Karen), Thomas Lackey, and Anthony Lackey; great-nieces Erin and Tara Lackey, Elizabeth Nunes, and Tara Lee; and great-nephews Michael Harrison, Christopher Harrison, Ian Bonnes and goddaughter Cassie Lawhorne.

A celebration of life will be held Oct. 11 at Gertie’s Restaurant in Vesuvius from 1 to 3 p.m. Family and friends will gather to honor Tom’s life and the many memories he created.
