MARGUERITE OLD

Born in Spartanburg, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Peggy and Charles N. Gignilliat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William W. Old III.
Marguerite is survived by her son, William W. Old IV, his wife Hollee, and their son, Will, of Blacksburg; her sister, Sally Stebbins, and her husband Roland, of Marietta, Ga.; her nephews, Roland Stebbins Jr. (Cathy) and Charles Stebbins (Annie); and many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
She attended Converse College in Spartanburg and went on to work for Colonial Williamsburg and the George C. Marshall Foundation at Virginia Military Institute. Later, she enjoyed a career as a travel adviser in Lexington.
Marguerite was an active member of her community through organizations including the Blue Ridge Garden Club, the Ignorance Club, the EnglishSpeaking Union, and many volunteer endeavors. She loved traveling, cherished time with her family, and had a lifelong fascination and love for Great Britain and the Royal Family.
A graveside service was held on Monday, Sept. 8, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lexington. A memorial service will follow on Monday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockbridge Area Health Center, 25 Northridge Lane, Lexington, VA 24450.
