Walter Melvin Tyler Jr., 77, of Buena Vista, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025. 

He was born June 2, 1948, in Rockbridge County to the late Walter M. Tyler Sr. and Myrtle Marie Floyd Tyler.

He was also preceded in death by brother, Keith Tyler.

Walter was avid outdoorsman who loved to garden and hunt. He was well known for his storytelling. Walter was a Vietnam vet who served two tours. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1499.

Surviving are his daughter, Lacy Tyler; grandsons, Bentley Tyler and Grason Hartless; sister, Rosemary Tyler Holland; nieces and nephews; dear friends Susie Olson, Nancy Stowe, Michael Lowry, Al Tinsley; and special friend and caregiver, Arnold McKemy and family.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Rockbridge MemorialGardens by the Rev. George Warden.
