Dale Hamilton Slusher Jr., 57, of Buena Vista, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He faced every challenge with strength and determination, never giving up the fight.

Born April 20, 1968, he was the son of Lucette Aliott McCoy and the late Dale Hamilton Slusher Sr., and stepson of the late Robert McCoy.

Dale worked as a Master Mechanic at Magic City Ford, where his skill and dedication were deeply valued. He was a devoted member of Waynesboro Church of Christ. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, spending time outdoors, and was a lifelong enthusiast of all things Bigfoot.

He is survived by his mother, Lucette McCoy; his loving wife, Janet Slusher; his son, Ben Slusher; and his sisters, Valerie Skripak (Steve) of Dublin, Sonia Gerald of Salem, and Stephanie Farnsworth (Jeff) of Concord, N.C. Dale will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with his four beloved dogs and three cherished cats.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Allen Close officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dale’s honor to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (www.pcf.org).

Dale will be remembered for his unwavering strength, kind heart, and the love he gave so freely to his family, friends, and all who knew him.
