Garland Davis (GD) Clemmer of Fairfield died on Aug. 27, 2025, at his residence. 

He was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Rockbridge County to Oscar Davis and Fern Dunaway Clemmer.

He was stationed in Germany in the Army, was a member of the Fairfield United Methodist Church, farmer, truck driver and retired from Rockbridge County Public Schools.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Kelcey and Ruby; two brothers, Leo and Ray; and three half-brothers, William, Russell and Vastine.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Anne; daughter Martha Rowsey (Dale) of Fairfield; son, James Clemmer (Sheila) of Virginia Beach; grandson Lance Rowsey (Christinia) of Moneta; granddaughter, Tracy Weeks (Brandon) Pulaski; great-grandsons Colten and Owen Weeks; great-grandson T.J. Rowsey; great-granddaughter Adalyn Rowsey; and sister, Emily Miller.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Nona Allen.  Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery. A finger food reception will be held at Fairfield United Methodist Church following the service at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at the funeral home.
