CONNIE BROWN

Occasionally, you may meet a person whose smile and laughter light up the room. That describes Connie Sue Rasnake Brown of Buena Vista. Connie, 77, was born in Lebanon on June 29, 1948. She departed for her heavenly home on Aug. 17, 2025, after being hospitalized at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul T. “Bust” Rasnake and Margaret A. “Meg” Fields Rasnake; brother Roger Lynn Rasnake; half- sister, Patsy R. Fields and the love of her life, Richard D. “ Ricky” Brown.

Connie is survived by her daughters, Melissa S. “Missy” Brown and Rhonda Brown Dorey; granddaughters Brandi D. Fridley (Travis) and Jordan A. Dorey (Nathan); great-grandsons Turner Wade Fridley, Chance Layton Parker and Trace Walker Fridley; and fur baby, Prince.

Connie graduated from Parry McCluer High School in 1966 and attended Southern Seminary Junior College. She was employed by Lee’s Carpets for 18 years and Stonewall Jackson Hospital for 21 years. She was a faithful member of Calvary Brethren Church. She served on the Buena Vista Rescue Squad Auxiliary holding office as president and other positions. Additional civic organizations include the Buena Vista Junior Women’s Club, Buena Vista Jaycettes and the Paxton House Committee. She was named Who’s Who Woman of the Year in 1994.

She loved God, her family, her church, her precious dog Prince, the beach, lunch dates with friends and her weekly hair appointment with Kim. Her family was her world.

Her celebration of life will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Brethren Church, 1365 Woodland Avenue, Buena Vista, VA, by Pastors Rick Ramsey and Joel Ward. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. with the service to follow. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Calvary Brethren Church Building Fund Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
