Born June 19, 1962, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of James A. “Pepsie” Austin and Serena G. Thomas Austin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Gayle Hartless Austin; son, Joshua Austin; and four brothers, Danny, Donnie Ray, Michael and Earnest Austin.

Curtis was retired from Rockbridge County Public Schools as a bus driver and maintenance worker.

Surviving are his children, Dennis James Austin and Christina Austin; siblings, Susie Clark, Francis E. Snead, and Greg B. Austin and wife Becky G. Austin; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Faith Baptist Church by Pastor Terry Bostic. Burial will follow at Austin Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
