She was born in Pleasant View on Feb. 28, 1936, the daughter of Thomas and Mary E. Beverly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Issac Austin. Madeline was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Hamilton, Betty Entsminger, Loraine Tomlin, Virginia Wright and Dorothy Beverly; and her brothers, Ellie Beverly, Thomas Beverly, Leslie Beverly and Floyd Beverly.

Madeline is survived by two sons, Larry (Brenda) of Buena Vista and Mark (Pam) of Botetourt County; granddaughter, Alicia Austin (Evan) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; grandsons Kevin Austin and John Austin, both of Botetourt County, and Brad Austin (Hillary); and greatgrandchildren Oliver Austin and Charlotte Austin of Buena Vista.

Madeline worked various jobs during her life, but her most important job was clearly being a homemaker and nurturing mother to her children and grandchildren. Her love for her family was shown through her constant support and care. She always put her family’s needs before her own.

She was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church where she loved to worship her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was thankful to Debbie and Dolly who provided her transportation to church after she lost the ability to see.

Madeline also enjoyed having long telephone conversations with family and friends. The family would like to share a word of special thanks to friends, Dolly Cash, Linda Hostetter, and her friends in the City of Buena Vista Treasurer’s Office.

A memorial service will be conducted today, Wednesday, July 30, 11:00 am at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Dean Staton. The family will receive friends after the memorial service.
