Virginia Lee Humphreys, 79, of Raphine died Tuesday, July 15, 2025. 

Born April 26, 1946, in AlleghanyCounty, she was a daughter of the late Russell Bowyer and Frances Broughman Bowyer.

Also preceding her in death were her son, Christopher Higgins, great granddaughter Juilianna Snell and her first husband Carl Higgins Sr.

Virginia was a member of the Faith WorshipCenter and a caregiver for the elderly for many years.  She enjoyed cooking and loved her family and church family dearly.

Surviving are her spouse, John Humphreys; daughter Barbara Weems of Stuarts Draft, son Carl Higgins Jr. and wife Deborah of Rockbridge County, daughter Patricia Broughman of Raphine, and son David Higgins Sr. of Staunton; sister Ernie Irvine of Lexington, sister Shirley Broughman of Clifton Forge, brothers Kenneth Callaghan and Jesse Callaghan, both of Covington, and sister Nancy Frazier of Lexington; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Dennis Bradley Sr. Family will receive friends one hour before the service. 

Burial will follow at Ebenezer A.R. Presbyterian Church in Rockbridge County.
