Jerry “Bo” Warren Tutt, 73, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2025, in Lexington, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service.

Born in Luray, Jerry graduated from Luray High School before earning his degree from James Madison University. He later pursued a graduate degree at the University of Virginia.

Jerry dedicated his professional life to education, serving as a devoted teacher and mentor in the Buena Vista City school system. During his 40 years of teaching, he taught physical education, drivers education, and coached basketball, tennis, and other sports. His impact in the classroom and within the community will be long remembered by former students and colleagues alike.

Jerry married Brenda Tutt on Aug. 10, 1974. Their loving union of over 40 years was blessed with three daughters who currently reside in Virginia: Kishia Tutt including his grandchildren, Nikolai Kaitlynn, and Kiara Nicholas of Harrisonburg; Cheryl Tutt (Shawn Jackson) of Woodbridge; and Jasmine Tutt (Hannah) of Hampton. 

He is survived by his sister, Lois Ann Tutt of Luray; his brothers, Larry Tutt of Fairfax, Anthony Tutt of Manassas, and Gary Tutt of Norfolk and a host of extended family, students, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Tutt, sister, Doris Houston, and brother Bruce Tutt.

Jerry will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, unwavering faith, and deep commitment to education and service.

A funeral service will be conducted to honor his life and the many lives he touched at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Harrison Funeral Home by the Rev. John Butler.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, at the Tutt Family Cemetery located at 119 Bixlers Ferry Road, Luray, Virginia 22835.  A repast will be held after the burial at St. John Baptist Church located at 646 West Main Street, Luray.
