BUTCH EDWARDS

BUTCH EDWARDS

Willis Franklin “Butch” Edwards Jr., 74, went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2025, surrounded by his family in his home.

Mr. Edwards was born in Lexington on Feb. 21, 1951. Butch graduated from Lexington High School in 1969, where he played football under the legendary coach Pete Brewbaker. After graduating high school, Butch joined his father, Woody Edwards, to help create Edwards Paving. He was a well-respected businessman in Rockbridge County and beyond for over 40 years. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and gun collector. Butch was known by many as “Mr. 600,” because of his vast knowledge of Remington Model 600 Rifles.

After retiring, one of his greatest loves was spending time with his very special grandson, Brady. He seldom missed a game or event that Brady attended. He was recognized as Brady’s most dedicated supporter and hero.

Butch was giving, compassionate, hardworking, funny and considered by many as a ferocious negotiator. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his father, Woody Edwards, and his mother, Jean Sorrells.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Edwards; son, Andy Edwards (Miranda); grandson, Brady Edwards; granddaughter, Hunter Mundy-Ferrell (Alex); sister, Beverly Horton (Donnie); and sister, Kimberly Bryant (Sam). He is also survived by cousins Sharon Edwards, Dale Sherburn (Doris), George Sherburn (Sandy), Tommy Sorrells (Bobbie), Charlie Sorrells, Scottie Sorrells (Tracy) and Shawna Sorrells; and a special little buddy, Caiden Parker. The Edwards family would also like to thank Butch’s friend and caretaker, Shelly Kessinger, for her love and devotion to both him and Patsy.

Per Butch’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life at a date to be determined in the fall. Details will be announced later by the family.

The Edwards would also like to thank ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice for their excellent care and support.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
