Betty Jane Higgins-Moore, 84, of Lexington died Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the WoodlandsHealth & Rehab Center. 

She was born Aug. 3, 1940, in Rockingham County, a daughter of James Albert Higgins and Ruby Mae Hostetter Higgins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Thomas Moore Sr.; a son, Nathaniel Moore II; a brother, Eugene Higgins; and a sister, Pauline Higgins.

She was a member of the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church. She loved God, family, friends and she loved to sing.

Mrs. Moore is survived by a special friend, Buck Kerr; two daughters, Yvonne Abigail Lawhorne and partner Jeff of North Carolina, Sandra Lou "Tater" Camden and husband Kenny of Lexington; a son, Stanley Todd Moore and wife Peggy of Natural Bridge; one brother, Larry Higgins of Lexington; two sisters, Nadine Higgins and Rosie Hostetter, both of Lexington; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. George Warden Jr. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
