NITZA FLOYD

NITZA FLOYD

Nitza Rogers Floyd of Buena Vista departed this life peacefully and surrounded by love on June 7, 2025, at the age of 74 after a brave journey with Alzheimer’s disease.

Nitza was born Feb. 8, 1951, the daughter of Charles E. Rogers and Cathryn Watts Rogers.

Nitza was the heart of her family with a love that was unconditional and without bounds. She was the kind of mom who made everyone feel special, loved and seen. Her kitchen was always open as she expressed her love through countless meals prepared for family and friends. Nitza was employed by Modine for most of her adult life until her retirement in 2005. After retirement, she spent most of her time caring for her family.

In addition to her parents, Nitza was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald “Doley” Floyd.

Nitza is survived by her children, Cynthia (Cindy) Floyd Marshall (Dean), Jamie Green (Chip Pruett), Donald Floyd Jr., and Misty Floyd Snider (Jason); her cherished grandchildren Kelsey Harris, Hannah Pruett Wheeler (Ethan), Kallon Harris, Kyle Snider, Kendal Snider, Aaron Pruett and Katy Belle Floyd; and four great-grandchildren.

Though her loved ones are heartbroken by her passing, all are comforted knowing that her legacy will live on in the meals shared and the stories told. Her family and a wide circle of friends will carry her memory forward forever with love. She held a special place with many children of family friends who knew her lovingly as Granny Nitza.

Nitza’s life of love will be celebrated with a graveside service and interment at Green Hill Cemetery tomorrow, Thursday, June 12, at 11 a.m.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the many caregivers that allowed Nitza more time in her home and to Heritage Hall Lexington, Alleghany Health and Rehab, and ACG Hospice for the care that was provided. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, and Lotts.
