JIMMY DAVIS

JIMMY DAVIS

Jimmy Elwood “Swampus” Davis, 75, of Buena Vista, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, May 17, 2025.

He was born Dec. 1, 1949, in Rockbridge County, to Walter Elwood Davis and Josephine Potter Davis.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick Jay and Jerry Allen Davis; stepson, Jay Jennelle; sister-in-law, Eunice Davis; best friends, Tommy Hostetter and Jim Burch; and favorite cousin, Jeanie Carol Kessler.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 24 years, Carolyn; his adoring daughter, Melisa D. Tomlin and her fiancé Corey Kirby; son-in-law, Lucas Jennelle (Liza); granddaughters, Emily T. Chase (Chris), Casey T. Brooks and Georgia Jennelle; grandsons, Seth Tomlin and Felix Jennelle; great-grandchildren, Addy Chase, Owen and Weston Brooks and Judah Tomlin; and sisters, Gayenelle Grant (Chuck) and Sharon Agnor (Robbie).

Nothing brought more love and joy to Jimmy’s life as his family and friends, Ronnie and Rose Jones, BJ and Donnie “Bones” Coleman, Tommy and Sue Camden, Ronnie and Daphne Vaughn, Butch and Martha Irvine, Patricia Burch and family; his church family and all too many to name.

Jimmy was born and raised in Buena Vista, a true Fighting Blue. He retired from Mohawk Industries after 35 years of service. Jim was a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and enjoyed his many bingo friends at the Lexington and Fairfield Moose Lodge. Dallas Cowboys never had a more devoted fan.

The family wishes a heartfelt thank you to our Pastor Hungsu Lim, Buena Vista Carilion Medical Clinic, especially Laura Mays, Sherri and Shannon, Dr. Moises Cossio at Roanoke Pulmonary Center, and Adrienne, Dr. Jeffrey Todd and staff for all the care and love shown to Jimmy.

Family night for Jimmy will be Friday, May 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Buena Vista.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services. NG
