BOBBY HUMPHRIES

BOBBY HUMPHRIES

CHARLES HUMPHRIES

Charles Robert “Bobby” Humphries of Buena Vista passed away on May 15, 2025, at home with his family.

Bobby was born on April 11, 1932, in Buena Vista to the late Isaac Humphries Sr. and Cecil Tomlinson Humphries.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Moore Humphries; brothers, Freddie Humphries and Isaac Humphries Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Edith Wagner Humphries.

Bobby was adored by his large family.

He is survived by his six children, Ronnie Humphries, Vickie (Johnny) Coleman, Valerie (Fred) Lewis, Wanda (Jeff) Moran, Leslie (Todd) Royer and Chris Humphries. Bobby was “Paw Paw” to his 12 grandchildren: Megan (Jeff) Martinez, April (Debbie) Staton, John Humphries, Atlanta (Brian) Watts, J.D. (Hillary) Camden, Ann Humphries, Jill (Zack) Babauta, Jarrod Lewis, Ethan Humphries, Ella Royer, Peira Conner and Gabby Conner. He also had nine great-grandchildren: Josie Martinez, Iris Humphries, Charlotte and Samuel Watts, Adalynn and Carter Camden, Maverick and Lainey Babauta and Walker Hostetter. Bobby is also survived by his sister, Mary Humphries Buchanan, and sister-in-law, Shirley Humphries.

After his retirement from Holland’s General Contractors, Bobby spent most of his time tinkering on projects or tending to his yard. He was a skilled craftsman and there was nothing he could not fix. Over the years, he made items such as apple-shaped paper towel holders, snowman standing figurines and wooden trays to carry food to the family’s many gatherings.

Bobby was idolized by his children and grandchildren. The best word to describe Bobby was goodness. He lived his life with integrity. He was honest, hard working and loving. He was respected by his family and all who knew him. While his death is hard to bear, his life and legacy will continue to live in those who knew him as Daddy and Paw Paw.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at Green Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Larry Floyd.

The family suggests that donations in Bobby’s memory be made to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
