DENNY MITCHELL
DENNY MITCHELL
Born Jan. 3, 1932, in Coleman Falls, Bedford County, he was the son of the late Maurice Clifford Mitchell and Mary Louise Wood Mitchell.
Denny lived a long and faithful life dedicated to his calling and to those he served. A man of deep faith and quiet strength, Denny devoted his life to service – first to his country, as a proud member of the United States Navy and Marine Corps as a medic, and later to his community as a Seventh-day Adventist pastor. His ministry touched countless lives with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering dedication.
Denny was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Barrett Mitchell, and his sister Pamela Mitchell.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Eleanor “Boots” Mitchell of Moneta; two children, Mark Mitchell and wife Jacque of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Denise Mitchell Hevener and husband Dickie of Buena Vista; four stepchildren, David Sincavage, Karen Widmer, Gary Sincavage, and Janet Smith; two siblings, Shirley Stebbins and Diane Williams of Keene, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren, all of whom were blessed by his guidance, humor, and steady love.
A funeral was held Tuesday, May 6, at the Buena Vista Seventh- Day Church. Interment followed at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.
