It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Joyce Imogene Camden Vest, age 84, who left us peacefully on Monday, April 14h, 2025. Imogene was born on July 20, 1940, to the late Lawrence and Hilda (Holland) Camden. 

She is survived and missed by her loving husband of 66 years, Milton “Ted” Vest; two children, Timothy (Tamyra) Vest, and Terry (Owen) Vest Smyth; five grandchildren, Jason (Megan) Vest, Jacob (Rebecca) Vest, Allyson Smyth, Madison Smyth, and Richmond (Eden) Smyth; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Vest, Mason Vest and Max Vest; and her caring sister, Wanda (Frank) Hostetter.

Imogene was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She led a life of constant care and kindness for others while devoted to her family. Known by several names, Jean, Ging, Emma, Imy, Scrubbie Lady, or as her grandchildren called her, Grammy (or Grambo), Imogene had a rare quality of compassion that made the world a better place by being in it.      

The celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 21, at Ben Salem Presbyterian Church where she was a devoted member. Graveside service and reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Ben Salem Presbyterian Church, 34 Ben Salem Lane, Buena Vista, VA 24416.
