LYNN SHERRARD
LYNN SHERRARD
Her interest in the helping professions led her to an education and career in social work. She received a bachelor’s degree in social work from East Tennessee State and a master’s in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1980.
Lynn moved to Richmond and worked for the Chesterfield Department of Social Services for over 20 years, primarily serving children and their families through the school system.
Lynn loved to travel, taking annual trips around the U.S. and abroad with family and friends. Additionally, in mid-life Lynn pursued and earned instructor rank in traditional martial arts.
In her retirement, she returned to Lexington to be closer to family and the mountains, which she loved. It had been her dream to build a small home on the family estate, which was completed a few years ago. She passed away in her home on November 25, 2024.
She is survived by her siblings, Jon S. Economou of Maine, and John D. Sherrard of North Carolina; her nieces and nephews, Janet Eich and Aaron Economou of Maine, J. Coe Economou of Hong Kong, and Douglas Sherrard, Alex Sherrard and Thomas Sherrard of North Carolina; as well as four grand nieces and four grand nephews in Maine, North Carolina and Washington.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25, at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory. NG
