SUSAN BRANDT

Born on July 24, 1953, in Baltimore, Md., she was the beloved daughter of William Worrall Griffiths and the late Lois Eileen Prinzler Griffiths.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 50 years, John David Brandt; their six children, Christina Marie Utterback (Robert), John David Brandt Jr. (Jennifer), William Walter Brandt (Kristen), Robert Griffiths Brandt (Veronica), Matthew James Brandt (Rachel) and Andrew Stultz Prinzler Brandt (Mallory); as well as 34 cherished grandblessings, 10 great-grandblessings; and two dear sisters, Elizabeth Woodin and Kathryn George.
A graduate of Virginia Tech, Susan earned her degree in management, home and family development. She had a deep love for her country and was a passionate advocate for the principles upon which it was founded. A true patriot, she dedicated much of her life to educating others about the Constitution of the United States and the importance of religious freedom. She and her husband, John, worked tirelessly to serve their community, founding a private religious school in Rockbridge County centered on faith, family, and freedom. Together, they hosted Constitution seminars and fostered a love of country in all who knew them.
Susan’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, boundless kindness, and deep love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She touched the hearts of all who knew her through her compassionate spirit and steadfast devotion to her family, friends, country and faith.
A memorial service to celebrate Susan’s life and honor her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was held on Saturday, March 8, at the Lexington Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1340 Thornhill Road, Lexington. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Susan’s memory through an act of Christlike service to someone in need.
