Born Feb. 21, 1936, he was a son of the late George Washington Saunders Jr. and Eunice Ann Claytor Saunders.

Also preceding him in death was his wife, Betty Thacker Saunders.

Mr. Saunders was a member of the American Legion Post 126 and Elliot’s Hill United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his sons, Timothy L. Saunders of Greer, S.C., and Darrell E. Saunders of Glasgow.

A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery by the Rev. Timothy Saunders.
