Born July 1, 1948, in Lexington, he was a son of Charlie Marion Poole Sr. and Jean Gutshall Poole.

Surviving are his sons, Michael D. Harwley and Jeremy Scott Harwley; brothers Darrell Poole (Debbie) and Charlie Poole (Jody); sisters Patsy Kislek (Carlos) and Paula McCown (Jim); along with grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

James was a retired major with the U.S. Army.

The funeral will be conducted at Harrison Funeral chapel at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 26. Burial will follow at Immanuel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Middlebrook. Visitation will be at Harrison Funeral chapel tomorrow, Thursday, April 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.
