Tourism Board Awards Grants For Event Planners

The Rockbridge Regional Tourism Board has awarded $10,000 to eight local event planners in round six of its tourism event sponsorship program.

The events are being held between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2024, and were chosen based on the strength of the application, the projected ability to attract out-of-town visitors, and how well the event aligns with tourism goals for the region.

Sponsorship monies were distributed to the following events: Maury River Fiddlers’ Convention, $2,125; Rockbridge Bull & Oyster Festival, $2,125; Artapalooza, $2,000; Driving for Veterans Golf Benefit, $1,000; East Coast Elite Track and Field, $750; Rockbridge Ballet presents “The Little Mermaid,” $750; Kids Fishing Day at Natural Bridge State Park, $750; Lexington-Rockbridge Juneteenth Celebration, $500.
