Monday, Nov. 27 -- The Parry McCluer High School girls basketball team cruised to a 53-13 victory over Altavista in the season opener in Buena Vista.

Victoria Hamilton scored 17 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as the Fighting Blues took control of the game early. Natalie Mohler and Emory Slagle chipped in eight points apiece for PM.

Riley Stinnette led the Colonels with five points, while Skylar Nichols managed four markers and Imani Crider finished with seven rebounds and two blocks.

Trailing 4-0 just over a minute into the opening period, the Blues quickly turned the game in their favor. PM closed the first half with a 23-3 stretch, holding Altavista without a field goal in the second quarter en route to crafting a 23-7 halftime lead.

The Colonels trimmed the margin to 24-11 early in the third frame, but PM dominated the rest of the way -- including a 15-0 scoring margin in the final period.

Tatyana Turner notched seven points for the Blues, and Peira Conner tallied five points and four rebounds. Payton Emore pulled in a team-best six boards and dished out four assists.

PM will return to action with the Jaden Baker Tournament in Buena Vista on Dec. 8-9. The Blues will take on Northside at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8.
