Northern Rockbridge Arts Guild Planned

First Meeting At Bethesda On Feb. 16

A new organization that will serve artists in the northern Rockbridge County area is being formed by Lee Charlton, fiber artist, and Paula Zimmerman, watercolorist.

The inaugural meeting will be held in the fellowship hall of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Rockbridge Baths on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m.

The purpose of this organization is to encourage and support those who are pursuing their love of art through sharing ideas, presenting workshops and exploring new techniques in a wide variety of art expressions. Both amateurs and professional artists are welcome join.

“When Paula asked if I were interested in helping her start an art guild in the northern Rockbridge County area, I answered yes!” said Charlton, a well-known fiber artist living in Rockbridge Baths. “We are new to the area and the chance to connect with other artists who are passionate about their art and who are also ‘neighbors’ was an exciting prospect. We may have different mediums but have like minded souls.

“I was part of a group in Texas that we called the Fiber Family,” Charlton continued. “We met weekly and fed each other’s creativity, shared our work and learned together how to run our small businesses. We truly became a family. I am hoping that the Northern Rockbridge Art Guild will fill a void and draw all sorts of gifted and lovely people together. I can’t wait to see who we are and share in who we become!”

Anyone interested in finding out about the plans for this organization can attend the first meeting or email Charlton at [email protected] or Zimmerman at pandjzim@gmail. com.
