Three women representing the Collierstown United Methodist Women in Faith attended the annual district meeting held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville on Saturday, Oct. 14. They were Carolyn Manspile, Linda Painter and Delores Rhodenizer. At the meeting each unit’s accomplishments were recognized and memorial tributes were given in memory of deceased members. Nancy P. Clark, an active and dedicated member of the Collierstown United Methodist Women in Faith, was among those honored.

The Collierstown United Methodist Church will host a spaghetti supper at the church on Saturday evening, Oct. 21, beginning at 5 p.m. The meal includes allyou- can-eat spaghetti, tossed salad, bread, dessert and assorted beverages. The cost of the meal is by donation.

Leading the 11 a.m. worship service at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church on Sunday, O ct. 15, w as G reg Jewitt. T he Collierstown Presbyterian Church will hold a cleanup day of the buildings and grounds on Saturday, Oct. 21, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in preparation for its annual church dinner that will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The Effinger Ruritan Club will meet tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. at the Palmer Community Center. The evening’s meal will be served by the Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s Night Circle.

A “trunk or treat” event sponsored by the Effinger community churches will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the field across from the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department. Church members will be in decorated cars handing out candy treats to the community’s children. This year’s “trunk or treat” will also offer a cakewalk activity. Funds raised from the sale of cakewalk tickets will be divided and donated to the community’s Rise Against Hunger meal packing day to be held in the spring and to the Challenger Baseball League for disabled children in Roanoke. Participating churches for this year’s “trunk or treat” include the Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Mt. Horeb United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, Rapps Church, and the Union View Advent Christian Church.
