The Parry McCluer High School track and field teams sent four throwers to the East Coast Elite meet held at Roanoke College on Saturday. All four throwers competed in the shot put event.

Griffin Harlow threw a distance of 45 feet, 7.75 inches and placed eighth out of 90 athletes. “Griffin will need to improve a couple feet over the next weeks and throw near that 48-foot mark to compete for the top regional spot,” said PM throwing coach Danny Cole.

Vincent Wilson and Rayshan Richardson both threw personal bests. Richardson threw for a distance of 40-9.75, finishing in 12th place, and Wilson threw for a distance of 33-10 for 41st place. “Rayshan and Vincent continue to slightly beat their best throw each week,” Cole said. “Rayshan is gonna need to be at the 44-foot mark at regionals to continue on to the state meet.”

On the girls’ side, Kamilah Richardson threw for a distance of 29-7.5, placing 13th out of 50 throwers. “We’re going to work to get her back to throwing at that 32-foot mark consistently,” said Cole.

PM will return to action at the Class 1 and 2 Region C meet in Salem on Friday, Feb. 16.
