‘Oppenheimer’ Actor To Appear At Screening

The George C. Marshall Foundation will host actor Will Roberts, who portrayed General Marshall in Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed film “Oppenheimer,” for a free screening of the film with an introduction and question-and-answer session with Roberts on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 12:30 p.m. at the Virginia Military Institute’s Gillis Theater.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask Roberts questions about his experiences researching for his role with the Marshall Foundation, the making of the film, and his personal reflections on bringing Marshall to the big screen.

Atomic artifacts from the Marshall Foundation’s archive, including a graphite bar from the Pile-1 reactor, a scrapbook about the Trinity test kept by Manhattan Project director Gen. Leslie Groves, and a piece of trinitite will be on display.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Roberts and the Academy Award for Best Picture for Patton, belonging to Marshall’s longtime aide, movie producer Frank McCarthy.

The event is part of the Marshall Foundation’s ongoing Legacy Lecture series. It is free to the public, but seating is limited. To reserve a seat, or for more information, contact events@marshallfoundation. org or call (540) 463-7103, ext. 138. No food or drinks are permitted in the theater.
