The first Hilltop Arts Festival sponsored by the music, art and theater programs at Southern Virginia University featured a wide range of activities on the campus last Friday and Saturday. Wildcat Inspiration Award Winners
Members of the RCHS community gathered at The Seclusion April 19 to honor educators at the 2023 RCHS PTSA Wildcat Inspiration Awards. Each year the PTSA invites senior students to nominate an adult in the RCPS/LCPS community who has inspired, challenged or encouraged them during their school career, and this year six educators were honored: David Miller, teacher and coach at RCHS; Katelyn Nicely, fifth grade teacher at Fairfield Elementary; Jessika Crance, special education teacher at RCHS; Heather Kilgore, former English teacher at LDMS; Ariadne Paxton, environmental science teacher at RCHS; and Robyn Sherman, CTE supervisor at RCHS. Getting Ready For Kindergarten
The annual “Day In K” event brought out families with rising kindergartners to Maury River Middle School last Thursday evening. Children were able to meet their teachers for next year, visit with local law enforcement and fire and rescue personnel, and talk with other community partners. The Washington and Lee Music Department will present a faculty recital, “Anima E Grazia, A Romantic Bouquet,” featuring Julia Goudimova, cello, and Anna Billias, piano, on Sunday, May 14, at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Concert Hall.
