Hardy Wins Silver In Senior Games
Lexington resident Ken Hardy (third from left) won the silver medal in the running long jump in the National Senior Games held in July in Pittsburgh, Pa. Hardy, 75, made a leap of 10 feet, 0.75 inches, missing the gold medal by about 0.75 inches. He had qualified by placing in the top three at the State Senior Games. Hardy was also a medalist in the National Veterans Golden Age Games held in May in Des Moines, Iowa. The National Senior Games are open to all seniors, not just veterans. 09/06/2023 12:00 AM

For Roger’s Last Ride
On a new firetruck dedicated to his memory the day before, members of the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department gave former chief and life member Roger Bradley his last ride to Rockbridge Memorial Gardens on Aug. 28. Lexington and Buena Vista firefighters posed their ladder trucks at the entrance to the cemetery and stood in salute as he rode by. Bradley, who died Aug. 24, served as chief in 1970 and 1972 and president in 1967-69 and 1978-80 during his over 59 years of service. Lucy is a black lab-pitbull mix who has been at the SPCA for quite some time now. We aren’t sure why … she is very sweet, friendly, good with other dogs and people. Lucy is approximately 2 years old, already spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative and on Prevention. She will be microchipped when adopted.
