Stallard Named Business Individual Of The Year
JOHN STALLARD, shown with his wife Sandy, won Business Individual of the Year at the recent chamber of commerce’s dinner dance.

John Stallard, founder of C.H.E.F.S. Catering, has been named the 2025 Business Individual of the Year. The award was presented at the 88th annual Chamber Dinner Dance & Auction on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Stallard’s journey began in the early 2010s, when he and his family revitalized the historic Stoneridge Inn, one of Rockbridge County’s most iconic bed and breakfasts. As the Inn thrived, so did his catering business, C.H.E.F.S., which he officially established in 2015. Today, C.H.E.F.S. Catering is known as one of the region’s top providers, especially for weddings and large events. Through Stallard’s hard work and exceptional service, the company earned recognition in The Knot Best of Weddings and Best of Virginia awards.

Stallard is also a dedicated community leader, according to a chamber spokesperson. His efforts extend far beyond his business, from supporting health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic to co-launching the Freedom Food Festival. He is a key supporter of local events such as Friday’s Alive and the Rockbridge Beer and Wine Festival and has served as president of the chamber of commerce.

A long-time advocate for small businesses, Stallard has been instrumental in cultivating a thriving, connected community, said the chamber spokesperson.

C.H.E.F.S. Catering’s success reflects Stallard’s outstanding level of quality, dependability, and professionalism. His strong leadership, sense of community, and dedication to excellence have made a lasting impact on both the business world and the people of Rockbridge County and serves as an inspiration to all, said the spokesperson.
