Lexington has always been a creative community, replete with writers, artists and performers. Nelson Gallery is devoted to encouraging and showing the creativity from local artists of any age, said a gallery spokesman. That is why this month’s show features these three emerging artists: Anthony Jutz, Marty Rockett and Sterling McIntyre.
Jutz likes to paint and draw whimsical and surreal characters and landscapes, creating scenes in their own little worlds that tell a story.
Rockett works with cut paper, cutting, designing and pasting clever arrangements from printed images – sometimes known as “collage.”
McIntyre’s work is more traditional, focusing primarily on dogs and fantasy art - paintings that are dramatically and powerfully colorful.
Area residents can meet these emerging artists at the gallery’s opening reception this Friday, March 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.
