Habitat Accepting New Home Applications

Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity (RAHfH) has announced that it will begin accepting new applications for its home build program. This initiative aims to provide affordable housing to eligible families in the community.

RAHfH offers local income-stressed families a hand up, not a handout as it partners with them to build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable housing, said a spokesperson.

To be eligible for the program, residents must meet certain criteria, including showing a need for housing, living in Rockbridge County for at least one year and being willing to partner for 200 hours of sweat equity per adult in the household. For full details on program qualifications and income charts, visit rockbridgehabitat.org/qualifications.

Thanks to the contributions of dedicated community members, area churches and businesses, volunteers and the homeowners themselves are able to construct new homes under the supervision of certified building experts.

Pre-qualification forms are available on the website at rockbridgehabitat.org or in person at 30 E. Preston St., Lexington. For those who need assistance with the application process, Habitat staff are available to help. Call the office at (540) 463-3770 or email office@ rockbridgehabitat.org.
