A large number of area children and their families turned out for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration at Washington and Lee University on Monday to enjoy face-painting, crafts and food. Among those painting faces were (at top right) W&L junior Laura Murambadoro talking with Frankie Kathleen Weiss. There were also CARE Rockbridge “Reading in Color” sessions with W&L students, including Bemnet Ali and Atiba De Souza (above), reading to the students. (Mary Woodson photos)
