Blues Breeze Past Giles In Jaden Baker Tourney

Friday, Dec. 13 -- The Parry McCluer High School girls basketball team cruised to a 54-24 victory over Giles in the Jaden Baker Tournament in Buena Vista.

Victoria Hamilton dropped 26 points to lead the Fighting Blues (2-0) to a lopsided win over the Spartans (1-6). Emory Slagle chipped in 12 points for PM, while Natalie Mohler notched eight markers and Peira Conner added six points.

Addie Lowry and Lainy Sharp scored six points apiece to pace Giles.

Propelled by 10 first-quarter points from Hamilton, the Blues opened the game on a 17-0 run. They would extend the margin to 31-5 by halftime, holding the Spartans to just one field goal -- a Sharp 3-pointer midway through the second period -- before the intermission.

Giles posted the first two buckets of the second half, pulling to within 31-9 inside the opening minute of the third quarter. But a Slagle trey and another Hamilton hoop nipped any potential run in the bud, and PM coasted to the victory.

Hamilton and Lowry were named to the all-tournament team alongside Carli Christian of Auburn and Remington Lewis from North Cross. In Friday's earlier game, Auburn routed the Raiders 40-10.

PM's Saturday matchup with North Cross was canceled and will be made up at a later date. The Blues will return to action against Glenvar at home on Monday, beginning with the junior varsity tip at 5:30 p.m.
